If you weren’t able to catch the Grammy’s this past weekend, there are three things you need to know: 1) Adele restarted her tribute to Michael George, totally nailed it, and got a standing ovation, 2) Beyonce’s sun-goddess performance was confusing and awesome at the same time, and 3) super long hair, blorange hair color, and geometric eye looks dominated the red carpet. Let’s dive in to number three, shall we?
Kim Kardashian may not have been at the 2017 Grammy’s, but the XXL hair trend she started in late 2016 came out in full force. Here’s Kim rocking hip-length locks this past October:
Demi Lovato was a sizzling bronze goddess with booty-grazing mermaid waves
RiRi rocked a middle part and curly auburn mane
J-Lo went sleek, straight and hip-length
Celine Dion pulled hers into a sophisticated low pony
Alicia Keys sported a larger-than-life curly ‘do with matching smile (our favorite accessory!)
Queen Bey with (of course) the longest and fluffiest style of them all
Just when we thought the whole blorange hair trend (blonde + orange) would exit as quickly and quietly as it entered, two stars showed up on the red carpet rocking their own versions:
Lady Gaga with a multi-hued blorange ponytail
Rihanna’s glam squad colored her hair the day before the show to match her orange top. Brorange? This is a variation of the trend we can get on board with.
See the liquid liner in Solange’s crease? Very runway, but wearable when the rest of the face is au-natural. Also, she’s getting in on the XXL hair trend, vertically!
Graphic eye makeup looks came out in full force, ranging from the subtle (Solange, above) to absolutely-not-subtle (Laverne Cox, below). Gaga brought out the eye glitter per usual and Adele arrived with her signature cat eye (as well as a variation on the Pantone Color of the Year for her dress!).
Liner, shadow, rhinestones – check, check, check
Gaga rocking two-tone glitter, a white waterline, and 100% sass
Adele with her ever-classic cat eye
Other notable eye looks included glossy (Beyonce), matchy-matchy to the dress (J-Lo), and iridescent (Katy Perry).
Glossy lids, gold everything, and a baby glow for Bey
Lavender eye shadow to match J-Lo’s lavender gown. Notice that even the stars get makeup on their outfits!
Perhaps a little heavy on the face makeup, Katy Perry nails the eye look with gold in her waterline and an iridescent pink ombre effect on the lid.
Which were your favorite looks from the 2017 Grammy’s? We’d love to hear in the comments!
