We’ve been long obsessed with the looks of the Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum and Vintner’s Daughter as a brand after seeing it featured on almost all of our favorite blogs and Instagram accounts. So, we reached out to April, the founder of Vintner’s Daughter, to find out how she got started and how Vintner’s Daughter became the brand it is today. We hope you enjoy! P.S. What inspired you to launch your brand?

I was someone who had always struggled with my skin – acne, discoloration, clarity and fine lines. I had tried every product under the sun. When I became pregnant and started reading the labels, I was shocked to see so many of the ingredients were cheap fillers and worse, toxic. I went in search of serious skincare in the natural world and couldn’t find the level of multi-correctional performance I needed, so two years later Vintner’s Daughter was born.

What were the challenges / advantages / disadvantages at the beginning?

From the beginning and still today our biggest challenge is the status quo of the beauty industry. Even within the organic and natural world, products are made hastily and with cheap fillers. Alternatively, we are committed to the finest quality 100% active ingredients and a time-honored formulation processes.

What kept you going at the beginning?

I needed this product! Nothing like it exists. (Editor’s note: we agree!)

How did you change while becoming a founder/successful?

I am constantly encouraging my friends to start businesses. It has been such a thrill for me and I want everyone to experience it.

Why did you choose the name?

Vintner’s Daughter is named after my first daughter because I was both a vintner and pregnant when I began developing it.

How would you describe the ideology behind your brand?

We are committed to producing the most uncompromisingly active and safe luxury skincare in the world.

Could you tell a bit more about the main ingredients in your products and how you select them?

All 22 ingredients are “main” ingredients. Each was selected because it is one of the most nutrient dense ingredients in the world and delivers serious results.

Is there a technical innovation with your product? 

Our technology is both ancient and innovative. We begin with whole plants and extract their 360-degree spectrum of activity, not just one or two actives like most skincare.  It is very expensive and time-consuming and we are one of the very few companies doing it. The result is a product of unparalleled quality and efficacy.

What can we find you doing on the weekends?

Hanging with my family, cooking, reading, listening to music, hiking in the hills near our house.

What are your hobbies besides your job?

Design, music, activism.

Name 3 of your favorite beauty products that you can’t live without:

Active Botanical Serum, water, and meditation.

What is the best advice you can offer anyone looking to transition from conventional cosmetics to natural products?

You don’t have to do it all at once. Fall in love with green beauty one product at a time. You will never look back!

What is a cosmetics no-go for you?

Anything complicated.

Your advice to the user of your brand?

Keep it simple. Active Botanical Serum is a powerhouse of skin nutrition. You don’t need much else.

What makes your company environmentally conscious?

We source organic and wild crafted ingredients from the most conscious farmers from around the globe. This is just one piece of the puzzle, though. We are focused on creating a conscious business from every angle – not just product, but also with our team and partners.

Did you do crowdfunding or anything else to help raise money to start your company?

It has been self-funded from the beginning.

What are you doing to find new inspiration?

Social activism is something I am very passionate about. I also love travel and music.

What do we have to look forward when it comes to the future of your brand?

Coming from a farming family, I know the thrill of harvest and I would love to participate in the harvest season at all of our various producers. Bergamot is Puglia, Rose in Bulgaria, Neroli from Morocco etc.

We absolutely loved this product and the transformation our skin underwent with it. We didn’t experience any breakouts or clogged pores or anything negative, which often happens when trying new products. Instead, this product made our skin glowy and soft. If anything, it actually helped our hormonal breakouts from becoming as aggressive as they would be otherwise. To apply, take between 5-7 drops, rub your hands together, and press into your clean skin. We follow up with a moisturizer but we think the serum alone would be enough for those who don’t want to apply any additional product. While the product is pricey, we highly recommend it, as it’s the only serum/oil you need in your routine. It truly is a one-stop shop for skincare. If you have one product you can splurge on in your beauty routine, this should be it.
