Valentine’s Day Beauty: Date Night

Stylisted - Valentine's Day Date Night Beauty

We love an excuse to mix up our humdrum mid-winter makeup routine!  What is it about the colder months that gets us in such a rut?  Maybe it’s the constant bundling (and de-bundling) that ruins our ‘do and smudges our lipstick. Eventually we just give in to chapstick and mascara and little else.  Hate to admit it!

Then comes Valentine’s Day and we remember what it feels like to want to try a little extra for that special someone– hats and coats, be dammed!  So here’s a romantic look tutorial to inspire us all to dust off our makeup bag and get back in the game!

  • Keep the base glowy and light. Use whatever is your current favorite, but either dilute with a primer or lotion or use a damp sponge to help sheer it out. We turn to Dior’s BB Cream, Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer, and the BeautyBlender.
  • After concealing, add a peachy-pink blush to give your cheeks a soft flush. Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blushes are incredibly long lasting and smooth.
  • To complement the blush, we love this neutral palette from Charlotte Ronson. We prefer sweeping the pink shade all over, the lighter brown in the crease, the dark brown as a soft eyeliner, and the cream shade as a highlight on the browbone and inner corners of the eye. You’ve got a defined, bronze smokey eye in less than 5 minutes.
  • Finish off with your mascara of choice and a bit of tinted lip balm for hydrated, kissable lips. Here’s a secret for you: the Dior Addict Lip Glow is magical. When swatching the product, the color provides no strong payoff, which can seem like a letdown, yet it actually adapts to your natural lip color to enhance it without overpowering it. It sounds gimmicky and unreal, but trust us – it’s moisturizing, beautifully scented, and gives you the prettiest pink flush.

Spritz on some perfume (we can’t resist Coco) and you’re ready to go! The perfect look to enhance your natural beauty, instead of hiding it.
