The Best Beauty Looks From the 2016 Oscars

While cheering on your favorite movies of the year as they attempt to win their most prestigious awards is always a good time, there is nothing we like more during an awards show than judging the hair, makeup, and fashion. The past few awards shows this year have felt very dull beauty-wise. In fact, we can’t think of anything that stood out enough that we can still remember it – except that one Zendaya look. She’s incredible. We were, however, pleasantly surprised as to how much we loved so many different beauty looks at this year’s Oscars. Keep reading to see our favorites and make sure to scroll to the bottom to let us know your faves, too!

This is a new-to-us category. Best bold lips may seem a bit ridiculous to some, but how could it when there were so many strong lip colors this year? These ladies could easily be seen in best overall, too. Starting from the top left, Andra Day, who we weren’t familiar with, had us staring at her lashes for a solid 10 minutes. WHAT. Those are insane and we need them now. Also, that lip color, that hair, that dress. Damn. Olivia Munn mixes orange with orange which could be a faux pas if she didn’t do it so well. Priyanka Chopra is other-worldly in that lip color which 100% was made for her. She should wear that color solely every day. Lastly, Rooney Mara makes us smile with her interesting ensembles always. The chiseled cheekbones, her porcelain complexion with that slicked back hair, the heavy eye and lip, sigh. How do we even try to recreate that?

We can’t even begin this without saying CHRISSY TEIGEN. Yes! That braid(s)! Just when we thought we were sick of braids, she goes and pulls off one of the coolest ones we’ve ever seen. As for the other two, they gave some of the best face/hair of the night. Both Olivia Wilde and Alicia Vikander flat-out stunned in all categories and should really be in our final segment: best overall. Unfortunately, the competition was tough this year, and we really admired their hairstyles, so here they are. Olivia has a fun braid that actually seems acheivable and Alicia is rocking one of our favorite lazy girl looks – the half bun.

Who to talk about first here? Rachel McAdams is always a standout, as we think few know fashion and beauty better than she. She killed it at the Oscars. The emerald dress and smoky eye, the nude pout, glowy skin, and slicked back hair is fitting for her classic yet fun style. Next to her, Sophie Turner, stunned in what is sure to be our go-to spring makeup look. She’s also making us want red hair, so there’s that. Kerry Washington is the ultimate badass in her leather and diamonds. We love her hair pulled back but the real star of the show is her winged waterline. Killer. Just below Kerry, Margot Robbie is a golden goddess. We’re newly obsessed with her – especially the surfer girl hair. This is a look that’s not for everyone, but it’s perfect for Margot. In the middle, Saoirse Ronan, may have outdone Rachel McAdams in emerald. Everything about this look is seductive – her windswept waves, the smoky eye, that highlight. We’ve decided she’s an unreal human. Finally, and surprisingly for us, as we’re normally not her biggest fan fashion-wise, we really liked Jennifer Garner‘s look. She chose a hairstyle that suits her face and found a way to keep things smoky while still looking fresh. Kudos to you, Jen. You deserve it.
