This September, we had a bit more fun experimenting with makeup than we normally do. It’s easy to fall into the rut of applying the same look day after day (something we’re certainly guilty of from time to time), however, it’s much more exciting to really finish off a look by considering the beauty that goes along with it.
One of the most enthralling aspects of beauty and fashion is the ability to become a different version of yourself just by changing up your outfit or hair and makeup look. Does that white lacey dress feel too girly for you today? Add a colorful winged eyeliner, a vampy lip, or bold brow, and your style for the day is instantly less feminine. We’ve been running with this approach and really considering our beauty look as the key determining factor in outfits we put together, and would challenge you to do the same. It feels good to get some inspiration simply from yourself every once in a while.
Now, on to our September 2015 beauty favorites:
– MAKEUP –
Gold eyeshadow – While the one pictured above is our absolute favorite as far as golds go, it was limited edition MAC a few years back, so it may be a tough one to track down. Don’t worry though! This gold from the drugstore is a beaut, as is ‘Honey Pot’ from this Too Faced palette.
Nars Lip Gloss in Chelsea Girls – Every beauty lover is excited to see this Nars classic back in action. The original ‘Chelsea Girls’ color came in a pot that you’d have to dig your fingers in many years ago. While the color was a stunner, the whole dip-to-apply method was not our jam, so we passed on purchasing (even though it we never stopped thinking about it). Luckily, they’ve released the shade as a permanent fixture among their doe foot applicator glosses and we just had to pick one up. It’s the perfect pink-nude-brown combo that is (finally!) easy to apply and feels luscious on the lips.
Xtreme Lashes GlideLiner Long Lasting Eye Pencil in Xtreme Black (c/o)– After brunching with the lovely ladies from Xtreme Lashes a few weeks ago while they were here in Chicago, we were generously treated to trial a few products from the brand. As they’re most known for their beautiful lash extensions, we hadn’t heard too much buzz about their actual product range. As it turns out, it’s amazing. This liner is possibly one of the creamiest, blackest liners we’ve ever tried. Though blend quickly because when it sets it won’t budge!
Bite Beauty Frozen Berries Matte Creme Lipstick in Elderberry – We’ve been talking about this range from Bite Beauty for a while. We previously wanted this product in August’s New-in at Sephora, and again in last month’s beauty favorites, so we won’t talk about it for too long. Overall, it’s the perfect deep berry color for fall/winter and we’ve been wearing it nonstop.
Maybelline Face Studio Master Hi-light in Nude – We picked this highlighting blush up on a random drugstore trip a few months ago, not knowing just how much we’d love it. A swipe of this on each cheek instantly brightens your look, while acting as the perfect trio of bronzer/blush/highlight as the ‘Nude’ shade isn’t too pink, brown, or golden. At less than $10, this one is definitely worth a try – plus it comes in plenty of other shades if ‘Nude’ isn’t your thing.
