We’ve heard time and again that it’s never too early to start taking care of our skin. Every time we wear makeup we’re aging our skin a little bit more and making it more prone to breakouts, so we should try to take care of it. We all know that sometimes it’s difficult to keep up a nighttime skincare routine. We get all the products out and suddenly we’re too tired to do anything more than take our makeup off and brush our teeth. But it doesn’t take too long to use a few more products to ensure that our faces stay clean and healthy as we sleep.
This is a really basic product that everyone should have in their nighttime routine. We recommend makeup wipes for the face and liquid remover for the eye makeup, though coconut oil works surprisingly well for this, too! It’s so important to make sure makeup is taken off at night because this will prevent breakouts, clogged pores, and aging skin.
The next step to a better night’s sleep is face cleanser. It might seem like the makeup remover got everything bad off of the face, but it’s not foolproof, and a good face cleanser will help remove the last bit. It’s also great to use a gentle cleanser as well as a tool like the Clarisonic to help exfoliate and remove dead skin.
We love a good night cream (or oil! You know we’re oil obsessed) to moisturize the skin. This will help restore the skin overnight and keep it refreshed and hydrated. Eye cream will help brighten the skin around the eyes and keep them hydrated as well. A favorite of ours is the Yves Saint Laurent Forever Youth Liberator eye cream. These creams will also help combat the aging makeup does to our skin.
We should also take a few more steps to a better night’s sleep by not using our phone right before bed and instead reading a book. The light from a phone can keep us awake longer than we should be, but, with this basic skincare routine, our skin will thank us and we’ll wake up feeling pretty darn good.
