We’ve all seen people at the office, out to lunch or even at the pool doing the most with their smokey eye and just thought, why? While we all want to look our best on a day-to-day basis, there is a line that maybe should not be crossed. Check out our guide for finding that balance between ready for the night out and bare eyes.
Some might say that any eyeshadow is too much during the day, but what’s the fun in that? If you’re at all makeup obsessed, then you probably have at least one neutral eye show palette. You may have noticed it goes from the lightest shade on the left to the darkest on the right. Our rule is to stick to shadows on the left half. Even for your crease color! No one needs to reach for a black shadow at 8AM. The Naked 3 Palette is an excellent choice for a light, shimmery daytime eye look.
Eyeliner is that one thing that can take you from bright daytime to woman of the night in 10 seconds flat. If eyeshadow for everyday isn’t your thing, try a bolder, yet thin wing with liquid liner. If you did dabble into your palette, maybe go for a softer line. This is where going into the darker shadows works. Take a medium or dark brown on an eyeliner brush and use that shadow as a softer top line. As for the lower waterline, maybe stay away from that area all together – until happy hour, anyway.
Mascara may be the one product that is always appropriate to apply. One of our favorites is the It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-in-1. It does everything a great mascara should do, from lengthening to thickening. Layer it on and save the falsies for later. If you’re really missing that lower water line eye liner, the ball at the end of applicator is great for defining the lower lashes.
But then again, it’s beauty, and the rules are, there are no rules! Wear the eye makeup that makes you feel most confident, whether that be all of it or nothing at all.
