Recreate Hair & Makeup from Rachel Zoe's FW16 - Stylisted
A double fishtail braid, glowing skin, and wine-stained lips accompanied the bohemian yet sophisticated ’70s-inspired F/W ’16 runway collection of the chic Rachel Zoe. Needless to say, as soon as we saw the looks, we were in love and began to think of any and all ways to recreate the runway look in our own real life. We worked with Stylisted stylist, Andie Peirce & Lauren Kelp to break down the runway look step-by-step so that you can try your hand at being a glamorous hippie yourself!
THE DOUBLE FISHTAIL BRAID
Start by parting your hair down the middle and adding a bit of dry shampoo or texturizing spray for volume. Then, take a small portion of each side of the hair in front and fishtail them back (you can also just twist them back for an easier look!). Secure them together into a ponytail with a clear elastic.
Fishtail the remainder of the ponytail and secure with an elastic.
Snip off the top elastic (from your first ponytail) to make the look flow more seamlessly.
Start with an extra glowy base (find our top tips for that here).
Apply a berry-colored blush a little bit more heavily than you normally would to increase the “flushed” look – just make sure to blend with your foundation brush to keep it looking natural!
Add a tiny bit of definition to the eye with a nude-brown cream shadow. Again, blending is key here to make sure it’s barely detectable! Finish off with some mascara as usual.
For the lips, the focal point of the makeup look, we recommend trying one of Glossier’s new balms, as they seem made for this kind of wine/popsicle-stained lip look! Apply lightly with the applicator just in the center of your lips and use your fingers to blend out the edges, creating a more “undone” lip.
AND THAT’S IT! WOULD YOU TRY OUT THE HAIR OR MAKEUP FROM THIS LOOK?
