How To Get Ready For Work After A Morning Workout

We’re the first to admit we’re not morning birds. We much prefer getting our workout on in the early evening, grabbing some dinner, and settling in for a few more hours of work. Luckily, as our schedule is a bit more flexible than true corporate work, we’re able to make that happen more often than not. On those days when we’re not so lucky or have an event to go to following work, we try to make time in the morning. Keyword being try. In order to maximize time those such mornings and not show up 2 hours late, we’ve devised a quick routine to help us get ready after a morning workout.

STEP 1

We find the secret trick to getting ready post-workout is working with your workout hair. Basically, we don’t touch it after a workout and just leave it in the same style. Post-gym, we’ll take a quick “body shower” – no need to do the full hairwashing routine! – and use a hairspray to help tame flyaways and keep the braids looking fresh. These double Dutch braids are the best for this as they truly stay in place and look good even if the rest of you is a little bit messy.

STEP 2

It can often feel a bit much to go straight to full coverage after a workout, so we suggest swapping out your foundation for a tinted moisturizer or just using concealer where you need it. For an extra dewy complexion, mix an illuminator or oil with your tinted moisturizer. Use a bit of cream blush where needed (our current must-have beauty step!), brow product, and mascara. For the final steps, grab that cream blush and dab a bit onto the lips and use your illuminator to highlight the high points of your face…or everywhere (we’d do cheekbones, cupid’s bow, brow bone, and inner corners of the eyes).

STEP 3

Get dressed! We love workout clothes that can translate to the office (aka athleisure), but not all offices are so lenient, so do what works for you. Though, if you’re like us, you can totally get away with some chic-looking leggings with a blazer (as pictured above).
