Family holiday parties can be good or bad, depending on the family. For some, this can be a wonderful experience (we love it!), while others get a little more stressed. If you fall into the latter scenario, you don’t need any more stress in your life with figuring out what to wear/how to do your hair and makeup. If you don’t recognize the familiar face in the photos, that’s Julia – our Co-Founder & COO! This year, she has multiple holiday parties to attend and wanted to stick with a reliable, classic look that can be pulled off in the car ride between events.
She started by applying an illuminating primer and a lightweight base to let her natural (read: perfect) skin shine through. She then added a golden creamy highlighter on her cheekbones, under the brow, along the cupid’s bow, and down the center of her nose. She applied her favorite bronzer and neutral blush (the perfect one for a red lip!) and got to work on the true showstopping component – the red lips. Worth noting: Julia has last extensions and didn’t need to bother with mascara (though a little black liner never hurt 😉 ). For the red lips, Julia went with one of our all-time holiday favorites. See? We told you this look was easy!
For the hair, Julia wanted to be able to keep it out of her face so she wouldn’t be tempted to fuss with it all night long. Enter: the braided bun. A chic, simple take on your average low bun or topknot. To try it yourself, just pull your hair back into a low ponytail and begin braiding as usual. Once you’ve finished braiding, wrap your braid around itself (as you would for a traditional bun). That’s it!
