We had been eager to try out Glossier products since the brand first launched, following the massive success of Emily Weiss’ Into The Gloss. Emily, the ultimate boss, has built a brand any beauty lover aspires to be a part of. And that’s the genius of Glossier/ITG! As a consumer, you want to be a part of the brand in a real, authentic way, so forming a product line and actually taking the advice and input of the audience was the best strategic move ITG could have done. Even better? ITG never came across as strategic in doing so – it just seemed like the truly valued the opinions of their readers who would ultimately become their target market. There’s so much genius behind Emily Weiss and her team’s businesses but we’ll save all of that love for another time and direct you to one of the countless podcasts or interviews she has done if you want to hear more. Back to Glossier reviews!
We had been eyeing the Milky Jelly Cleanser, in particular, as we’re known to have not strayed from our beloved CeraVe for the past five/six years (!!! Crazy!). So when we ran out of our last bottle of CeraVe’s Foaming Facial Cleanser (don’t worry, we will repurchase eventually), we decided it was past time to give Milky Jelly a go. We’re about halfway through the bottle at this point and have to say we love it. The conditioning aspect of the cleanser leaves our face feeling soft and clean (never stripping!) and it truly does remove makeup, though not all makeup. For our heavier-handed days, we go in with our favorite micellar water. The only downside is how quickly we’ll have to repurchase, as the bottle is quite small and it takes 1 pump in the morning on wet skin and 2 pumps in the evening on dry skin (+ another pump for the second cleanse). Previously, our CeraVe cleanser lasted us around 3 months but Milky Jelly seems to be significantly smaller and more expensive. Overall, we love the feel and would definitely repurchase but may stick to using it as a morning/2nd cleanse cleanser.
Now for the fun part, the Generation G lipsticks. We’re a huge fan of these. The formula of Generation G makes the lipstick look exactly like your lips but better. No heavy feeling or mask-like appearance, just your lips with an added tint of whatever shade you choose. It’s surprisingly fairly long lasting and is never drying (a huge bonus for a matte lip!). We accidentally ordered two of the ‘Cake’ shade so we’ll be returning one to try out one of the other 3.
