An Easy, Spring Take on The Smoky Eye

Spring normally brings visions of florals and pastels, not dramatic dark tones. We’re all about changing things up and wearing the unexpected, which is exactly what drew us to this new, modern take on the smoky eye. Spring’s smoky eye is all about super glowy skin, a sheer berry lip, and a deep eye that still has some warmth to it with the help of an extra special product. We called on Lauren Kelp and Stylisted makeup artist, Mollie Jakubowski, to help us create the perfect tutorial for you!

STEP 1

First things first, we thought it’d be wise to note that Lauren’s hair here was done for our recent Dutch crown braid tutorial and is so easy and the perfect complement to this look.

Makeup-wise, start with a clean, well-moisturized face and begin with MAC’s Strobe Cream. This is one of the 2 secret tricks to getting the perfect spring smoky eye and a glowing base. Then, apply concealer and a light-reflective foundation where necessary. Be careful not to go overboard here, we want to make sure your skin still looks like your skin (just better).

STEP 2

Bring in the color! Use a foolproof contour shade like this one to help define your cheekbones. The key here is to dust lightly into the cheekbones, so as to not actually contour as severely as you might know it, but just add definition. Next, add a berry blush -as you may know, this is our all time favorite. Finish off the cheeks with the #1 secret product – Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop! This product is the current darling of the beauty world and loved immediately by anyone who’s lucky enough to get their hands on it.

STEP 3

Using this magical palette, create a warm smoky eye by blending as much as physically possible to ensure all of the colors look smooth and not streaky. This palette is a bit pricey, but we promise it’s worth the use you’ll get out of it. The last but most important step is taking a bit of the aforementioned Champagne Pop and popping it directly onto the center of your eyelids (you can just use your finger for this so as to place the product exactly where you want it).

STEP 4

Finish the look off with a sheer berry lipstick to keep the look feeling warm and not too overpowering and you’re done!
