In the midst of winter, we get a spring itch. We become sick of our vampy shades, static-y hair, and baggy sweaters and decide something needs to go. In Chicago (and most of our other markets – lucky you, LA!) winter tends to last forever, so if this itch approaches in February we’re basically screwed. This year we’re pre-preparing for our spring itch by putting together some makeup looks that remind us that brighter days are ahead. 5 beauty looks so good, we can just convince ourselves that it is, in fact, already spring. Is that called alt-spring these days? Regardless, we’ll be ready for it.
We love this look. In fact, we pull it every single time we’re on Pinterest and have been counting down the minutes until we could finally use it somewhere. This bold pink lip is totally not up our usual alley of nudes & reds, but (as you learned a few years ago) we get pink-curious around this time every year. We love how it’s paired here with an all-white outfit and little other makeup. One to save for those days you really need a lipstick pick-me-up.
While the skin here actually looks matte, the look as a whole is very wind-chapped/just came in from the cold. And we’re loving it. The rosy cheeks paired with the platinum hair and stark white blouse feel fresh and warm – exactly what we’re after this spring.
In this week’s beauty links, you’ll learn that we’re obsessed with tonal makeup looks at the moment (stay tuned for the one, in particular, we can’t let go of). This Gigi Hadid gem from fashion week is the first we’ve seen that looks both sophisticated and wearable. Her skin looks clean and is accented by the warm peach tones on her eyes and lips. The tonal looks also means you don’t have to use as many products – win win!
For this style, we’re throwing glossy products all over our face. Really. Even Vaseline will work. We honestly think this is the type of makeup look that would be improved after a hot yoga class. CorePower, anyone? To achieve the look, take your favorite glossy highlighter and put it almost everywhere – lids, cheeks, lips. We recommend using cream or liquid products only here!
This is another Pinterest all-star that we just can’t keep our eyes off of. The model makes graphic eyeliner look easy, which is no easy feat. For this take on graphic liner, we’d stick with a double line or an exaggerated (read: overly thick) wing. Pair with rosy lips and bushy brows and you’ll look both youthful and polished. This is adulting, right?
